A demostration of an order allocation and vehicle route optimization and tracking prototype software system.
This system was done mainly by “Mashing” up resources from the public internet cloud. As the theme of this project was all about “Mashup Technology”, other than a web server hosting the server files, there were no internal resources used.
The system allows orders to be automatically allocated to trucks and the route of each truck is automatically optimized to minimize cost in terms of distance and time.
Features:
1) Utilizes XML, RSS, JSON and other “mashup” techniques
2) View Traffic conditions
3) Utilizes Database and Map solution from the cloud
4) Automatic Postal Code Conversion
5) Automatic Allocation of Orders to trucks
6) Optimization Algorithms
7) Tracking Simulation
An AJAX system, reduces page load.
*Note: This system is mainly for educational research purposes.
By developing this system, the author gained valuable experiences and exposure about Mashup and Web 2.0 for the benefits of implementing such technologies.
About the developer:
The author is a Computer Science graduate from NTU, Singapore @ 2009. Has great interest in the field of Information Technology and currently open for any job opportunity.
